Sam Lee says he’d be ‘surprised’ if £100m player didn’t sign for Man City this summer

Manchester City face a big summer transfer window.

Indeed, this season hasn’t gone to plan and City need to put things right next season.

Luckily, the summer transfer window is on the horizon, and, with the right additions, City could be considerably improved heading into next season.

City have been linked with some exciting signings as of late. Wesley has been linked to Man City, while Morgan Gibbs-White is a City target too.

Gibbs-White has been linked to City, and according to Sam Lee, speaking on The Athletic FC Podcast, this is a move that should happen this summer.

Indeed, Lee says that it’s now at the point where he’d be genuinely surprised if Gibbs-White didn’t end up at City this summer.

Sam Lee would be shocked if Morgan Gibbs-White didn’t join Manchester City

Lee spoke about what City could do this summer.

The journalist says that Gibbs-White is a concrete target for City, so much so that he’d be surprised if this deal didn’t go through from this point.

“The ones we know more about, Gibbs-White, that’s one where I’d be surprised if it didn’t happen at this point,” Lee said.

Lee was then asked how much this deal would cost as Gibbs-White has been valued at £100m lately.

“It’s going to be a lot, I don’t know, it depends on Forest, they want to keep Gibbs-White, but how much it would do them a favour financially if there is a sell-to-buy element.”

Ashley Cole recently hailed Gibbs-White, while Nottingham Forest fans think he’d shine at Man City.

Morgan Gibbs-White compared to Kevin De Bruyne

A new attacking midfield player coming in at Manchester City has huge shoes to fill.

Indeed, Kevin De Bruyne is leaving Man City this summer, and Gibbs-White may well be the Belgian’s replacement.

A statistical comparison between both players this season makes for interesting reading.

Gibbs-White hasn’t been far off De Bruyne this season, but, that said, De Bruyne hasn’t been at his best this term.

Indeed, Gibbs-White has a long way to go if he’s going to step up and replace what De Bruyne used to bring to this side, and, whether or not he has that level of ability in his locker remains to be seen.

Whether you’re a fan of this transfer or not, it sounds like Gibbs-White could become a City player this summer.
