Fabrizio Romano shares big Tuesday morning update on Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid

When big names are either in or nearing the prime years of their careers, Manchester City rarely ever sell them.

Ferran Torres’ sale to Barcelona was perhaps the most recent example of City being willing to sell a player who was yet to hit the peak of his powers.

However, Torres did not particularly set the world alight at the Etihad Stadium, which is why his exit was not widely viewed as a blow for the Sky Blues.

Leroy Sane’s decision to leave Manchester City in favour of a move to Bayern Munich perhaps instilled far more fear amongst the club’s supporters.

Sane had justified why he was one of German football’s most exciting young talents in a City shirt.

However, after spending four seasons at Manchester City, out of which he was largely injured in the 2019/2020 campaign, he decided to join his country’s most dominant force at the time.

However, Sane’s sale has not affected the English giants either, who have grown from strength to strength since his departure four years ago.

It will be interesting to see whether Manchester City rue their decision to let Julian Alvarez leave if his move to Atletico Madrid is finalised.

On Tuesday, it was reported that news around Alvarez’s potential transfer will emerge by the end of the week — with a sense of clarity looking set to emerge about his constant links to the Spanish capital.

Fabrizio Romano shares what he knows about Man City star’s move to Atletico Madrid

It was claimed on Monday by journalist David Ornstein that Manchester City and Atletico Madrid are negotiating the fee and payments terms about the deal involving the Copa America winner.

Ornstein also stated in his revelations that the 24-year-old is close to reaching an agreement with Diego Simeone’s side, just two years after joining City for £14 million in 2022.

Simeone is believed to have “specially requested” Alvarez’s signing at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed on X that Atletico Madrid are “working to” ensure Alvarez signs for them on Tuesday.

Diego Simeone and Co. are also believed to be offering more than €75 million (£64 million) to sign the Argentine international.

Great for all parties involved if Julian Alvarez signs for Atletico Madrid on Tuesday

If Atletico Madrid manage to sign Alvarez as soon as on Tuesday, it would be the best outcome for all parties involved.

Manchester City will be able to move forward and ramp up their plans on how to replace the two-time Premier League winner after his departure is confirmed.

Alvarez will be able to make his next career move and have the chance to get up to speed with life at his potentially new club.

As for Atletico Madrid, they will finally get their hands on one of their seemingly main transfer targets during the summer window.
