Fulham are now confident about beating Manchester City to the signing of Andre from Fluminense.

That is according to the Evening Standard.

So, what is the latest on Manchester City target Andre? Let’s take a look…

Fulham confident about signing Manchester City target Andre

Well, a story from Globo Esporte in Brazil claimed that Manchester City had made an approach to sign the Brazil international with Kalvin Phillips expected to leave the Etihad Stadium.

However – according to the Evening Standard – Fulham are now optimistic that they can bring Andre to Craven Cottage.

The South American – who Pep Guardiola called a “quality” player at the FIFA Club World Cup – has already admitted it is a “big dream” of his to play in the Premier League, so a move to England does seem likely to happen in January.

Andre made 60 appearances for Fluminense in the 2022/23 campaign, scoring one goal.

Manchester City could still benefit from Andre joining Fulham

If the £25,000-a-week man does end up at Fulham, Manchester City could still benefit.

The Daily Star believe Fulham No.26 Joao Palhinha is another midfield option for Manchester City, and the Evening Standard claim that the Portugal international could depart if Andre joins.

Therefore, it could be a case of one in, one out at Craven Cottage this winter.

Manchester City seem highly likely to sign a new central midfielder if Phillips departs.

A move to Newcastle is set to happen for the England international, although there is currently a disagreement over the finer details of his loan – according to TEAMtalk.

That could allow Juventus to swoop in, as the Manchester City No.4 is said to be open to joining the Italian giants.

Be sure to keep an eye on that situation, as an exit for Phillips could trigger some more activity at Manchester City following a £21.7m agreement to sign Claudio Echeverri from River Plate.
