Gabriel Agbonlahor shares when he expects his friend Jack Grealish to leave Man City

The future of Manchester City star Jack Grealish remains uncertain.

The winger experienced his worst season with the Manchester club last time around since he moved to the Etihad Stadium as part of a £100m deal in 2021, a price tag the Englishman has never lived up to.

As a result, the 29-year-old fell down the pecking order at Man City and is now expected to leave before the summer transfer window shuts, with Everton among the teams monitoring Grealish’s situation.

Man City are yet to receive an official offer for the winger, and Gabriel Agbonlahor, who is a friend of Grealish’s, has shared when he expects the former Aston Villa star to leave Manchester.

Jack Grealish to leave towards the end of the transfer window

Grealish returned to Man City training on Monday with the rest of Guardiola’s squad, but it is only a matter of time before the winger is no longer there, as the 29-year-old has to leave if he has any hope of making the England squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Speaking about the Englishman’s future on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor expects Grealish to leave towards the end of the transfer window, as clubs such as Everton will use time to get a better deal with Man City.

“I don’t think if he moves, he moves anytime soon. I think with the wages that he’s on and a club like Everton, there will have to be a lot of negotiations with City and what they pay towards his wages, if it’s a loan deal,” Agbonlahor said.

“I don’t see it happening until the end of the window. Sometimes these deals, if you’re Everton, you’re like, if we sign him today, we might have to pay, I don’t know, £200,000. Maybe if you get down to the last few days of the window, that might go down to £100,000.”

West Ham could also be an option for Grealish as the Hammers are yet to strengthen their team significantly this summer, and the departure of Mohammed Kudus has left a spot open for the Man City star.

The coming weeks will reveal where Grealish will play next, and Agbonlahor will hope that his friend will be treated better than he has been in Manchester lately.

Jack Grealish has been treated ‘unfairly’ by Pep Guardiola

In addition to his comments about Grealish’s future, Agbonlahor also stated that he believes Pep Guardiola has been treating the winger unfairly in recent months, especially by leaving him out of his FIFA Club World Cup squad.

“I think he has treated him unfairly,” the pundit said. “I mean, the shock for me was the FA Cup Final. You know, when they were losing to Crystal Palace and a new signing (Claudio Echeverri) comes on, who has not made his debut all season, a young player, the Argentinian lad.

“I’m surprised, like he’s on the bench, why don’t you bring him on? I think that was the start of knowing that it was over, and then not taking him to the Club World Cup was odd for me. Jack’s a superstar, isn’t he? And you should take your superstars to these sort of tournaments.”

Guardiola’s treatment of Grealish has been strange at times, but it is nothing new in football.

The winger was the master of his own destiny, and having failed to live up to his manager’s expectations, that has been the main factor in his uncertain future.
