Manchester City have been through an unprecedented run of form in recent weeks.
For the first time ever under Pep Guardiola, the Blues lost five consecutive games before throwing away a 3-0 lead in Tuesday night’s 3-3 draw with Feyenoord in the Champions League.
Whilst not a defeat, Alan Shearer dubbed City’s draw against Feyenoord an “absolute disaster” for them.
Their next match, in which the Citizens will be desperate to grab a much-needed victory, sees the Premier League champions take on the current leaders Liverpool at Anfield.
City’s recent run of results has now led to one pundit sharing a suggestion on how the Manchester club could get their season back on track.

Gary Lineker suggests January transfer answer for Man City
Reflecting and assessing City’s disappointing run of form in a recent episode of The Rest Is Football, Gary Lineker said this about what the Manchester club could look to do to change their fortunes in the coming weeks.
He said: “I think they’re missing out with two of their leaders at the moment, aren’t they? Obviously, Rodri, we know he’s out for the season, but I think [Ruben] Dias is a big miss as well, because he’s such a rock-solid defender and those two players’ experience.
“But they’re in a rut, they’re in a bit of a rut at the moment, and it just shows you it does happen to the best. De Bruyne is just easing his way back in a little bit. But they’ve got a mixture, really, of the really young and without being rude, fairly old players, experienced, should we say, or veterans.
“I wonder whether they’ll go, they don’t usually do much in the January transfer window, but I wonder whether they might need a midfield player at least, do you think?
“You know, because obviously with Rodri out, he’s such a big miss, but it’s a tough act to follow, and it’s tough to find one in the window, isn’t it?”
Guardiola has already hinted at January transfer action
Back in September, Rodri suffered a season-ending knee injury during City’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.
Following on from that, Guardiola hinted at City signing a midfielder in January to help fill in for the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner, saying this on the subject.
He said: “We will see. We talked today with Txiki [Begiristain], we will see what’s going on. We don’t have to decide tomorrow, right? We have time to see the potential problems we will have and after we will see.”

City don’t usually sign players and immediately add them to their squad during January transfer windows, which is why Lineker said it would be something fairly unusual for the Manchester club to do this time around.
However, before the winter window opens for business, the Blues have some very significant domestic and European fixtures to get through first.
Regardless of how City get through December in terms of what results they get, bringing in at least one midfielder should be on the club’s agenda in January.
