It has been reported that Manchester City are set to launch an opening bid of £75 million to complete a transfer for Josko Gvardiol.

This comes from journalist Rudy Galetti, after it was recently claimed that Pep Guardiola’s side will ‘intensify’ their pursuit to sign him.

It seems like there was truth to this revelation as Manchester City could now submit a £75 million bid to bring Josko Gvardiol to the Etihad Stadium.

Branded as an ‘elite’ talent by WhoScored, the 21-year-old has a ‘big fan’ of his in Pep Guardiola, as per Fabrizio Romano.

In fact, another claim that is quite interesting is that Pep Guardiola is ‘pushing’ to ensure that the RB Leipzig centre-half comes in to replace Aymeric Laporte.

Now, Rudy Galetti has revealed that Manchester City will indeed try to test the Bundesliga side’s hand by putting in an initial £75 million bid to sign Josko Gvardiol.

Furthermore, it has been reported that the highly-rated defender has given the ‘green light’ for the transfer to ensue, with there being ‘no issues’ regarding the personal terms at hand.

Galetti concluded the story by simply saying, “Let’s get ready to see the negotiation that could beat the world-record fee for a cente-back’s transfer.”

Clearly, there is still a way to go before any deal gets completed or even ruled out.

Josko Gvardiol would be the perfect signing for a number of reasons

For starters, considering how much potential Josko Gvardiol possesses, if a bid of £75 million is accepted by RB Leipzig, Manchester City may actually have signed him for a bargain in the long-run.

In terms of the Croatian international’s attributes as well, in terms on his top-class ball-playing ability, astute reading of the game and experience of playing in a back three, he profiles as the perfect Aymeric Laporte replacement, in case he ends up leaving.

To add to that, Gvardiol could refresh a squad that is ageing, with Kevin De Bruyne (31), Kyle Walker (33) and Ilkay Gundogan (32) edging towards the end of their careers.
