Robbie Fowler has said that Pep Guardiola would be over the moon if Manchester City wrapped up a transfer for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The well-known pundit made this claim in his column for the Mirror, while addressing the Liverpool defender’s switch to central midfield.
Robbie Fowler went on to emphasise that several top clubs, including Manchester City and Pep Guardiola would dream to have Trent Alexander-Arnold on their books.
Robbie Fowler insists Pep Guardiola would love to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold for Manchester City
Speaking of attacking full-backs, City are reported to be eyeing moves for them, with Club Brugge’s Tajon Buchanan, who is naturally a winger attracting their interest in a more defensive role.
Similarly, it was reported on Sunday that the Catalan tactician himself requested the treble-winners to make a move for Achraf Hakimi.
Now, Robbie Fowler has claimed that if given the option, Pep Guardiola would be buzzing to see Manchester City sign Trent Alexander-Arnold.

“If Trent Alexander-Arnold was put on the transfer list by Liverpool tomorrow, every top club in Europe would want to sign him. Pep Guardiola would love him at Manchester City. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich exactly the same.”
Pep Guardiola would potentially reject the transfer in 2023
Robbie Fowler would have been spot on about Pep Guardiola having an interest in working with Trent Alexander-Arnold, had he been referring to the 2021/2022 season.
Back then, the Spaniard was still working with Joao Cancelo as his inverted left-back and the Englishman could perhaps have played the same role on the right flank.
But since a chunk of last season, Guardiola has reinvented his side tactically, playing three or even four centre-backs in order to stay compact at the back.
It is this watertight defence that particularly rewarded City in the Champions League and played an instrumental role on their road to winning the treble.
As a result, Guardiola would perhaps turn down a move for the Reds fan favourite, despite his undeniable brilliance.
