There was a big development last night as reports surfaced that Pep Guardiola will extend his contract at Manchester City.
For weeks there has been speculation over Guardiola and whether or not he’ll fancy sticking around at the Etihad Stadium.
But City fans were delighted last night over claims Guardiola will extend, with the Spaniard now set to make it at least 10 years in charge at City. And it’s possible he could even stay until 2027.
The club should be providing official confirmation in the coming days.
But Guardiola is staying, and it’s a huge boost for the club to keep hold of a manager who has been so successful.
Last night in the wake of the news, journalist Guillem Balague shared what he knew of the situation.

There had been a few new reports about Guardiola leading up to the big development last night.
Firstly, it was suggested that City had been drawing up contingency plans over Guardiola while they waited on his decision.
Secondly, two main factors Guardiola was considering over extending at City were shared, including the opinion of his family, and whether he felt he could still motivate his players.
Speaking shortly after the big development, Spanish journalist Balague took to X and said: “He told his close entourage and Sunday that he had decided.
“This decision has nothing to do with a sporting decision, it didn’t have to do with players, it didn’t have to do with money. It was to do with his personal situation.
“His family is not with him in Manchester, (he was thinking) does he want to be another year in Manchester? That’s what made the FA move on for Tuchel.”
Balague went on to suggest that City and Pep feel that next season will be ‘easier’, with the current campaign throwing up several challenges so far including a string of injuries.

Everyone had been clamouring to know Guardiola’s decision on his future and thankfully it’s the news many had been hoping for.
Guardiola will be sticking around until the end of the 2025/26 season at least, and seemingly, the club are looking for the Spaniard to oversee a transition period.
