For several months, there have been a whole host of opinions regarding Pep Guardiola’s future at Manchester City.
On Tuesday, Guardiola’s two factors behind signing a new contract were claimed to be his family’s opinion and whether he felt the City players were as motivated as before to respond to his instructions.
However, The Athletic journalist Sam Lee has revealed that Pep Guardiola has agreed to sign a one-year contract extension at the Etihad Stadium.
Notably, there is an option in the Catalan’s deal to extend his contract at Manchester City until 2027.
An official announcement over Guardiola’s latest contract is expected in the next few days.

The report claimed that there were suggestions that the six-time Premier League winner would follow Txiki Begiristain out of the door at the end of the 2024/2025 season.
But all such talk has been put to bed by this latest revelation.
Unsurprisingly, Manchester City supporters have expressed their joy online over Pep Guardiola looking increasingly likely to further prolong his stay at the club.
A City fan expressed: “Oh my God, this is perfect. I’m crying.”
Another Manchester City supporter wrote: “Plus the option of 12 months, let’s go!”
A Manchester City simply said: “The greatest ever.”
A Sky Blues fan summed up why Guardiola looking likely to extend his contract is excellent, writing: “This Pep extension is huge though, genuinely. Next Summer should be a huge change where plenty of players could be sold and plenty brought in. Pep as that continuity to see that transition through is priceless.”

Several fans and pundits alike will be surprised to see Guardiola still have the hunger to keep trying to attain greatness at City.
But in January, Pep Guardiola commented on Jurgen Klopp’s exit from Liverpool after he officially announced the news by hinting that he plans to stay at the club.
“I’m fine. I want to do it still for one more year and maybe extend.”
It was stated in October that industry insiders felt Guardiola changed his mind about his future at City on a daily basis.
But perhaps Pep Guardiola was simply keeping his cards close to his chest.
