It has been reported that Manchester City have now sealed a deal to sign Matheus Nunes from Wolves.

This comes from Fabrizio Romano after Gary O’Neil confirmed on Wednesday that he expected the Portuguese international to stay put at the Molineux Stadium.

But now, it seems like Wolves may well have approved of the bid made by Manchester City over the potential signing of Matheus Nunes.

Fabrizio Romano gives ‘Here We Go’ to Matheus Nunes to Manchester City

Branded as ‘incredible’ by Bruno Fernandes, it seems like the 25-year-old’s arrival could well be viewed as a priority by City due to Kevin De Bruyne’s long-term injury.

Famously, Pep Guardiola described the former Sporting CP midfielder as ‘one of the best players in the world’ (via Manchester Evening News) back in February last year.

Now, it has been revealed that Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement with Wolves to sign Matheus Nunes.

Further details claim that Tommy Doyle could now head to the Molineux Stadium in a deal worth £5 million, with a selling clause of 50% expected to be inserted in the final.

Currently, payment terms and installments regarding the deal are being finalised after which the signing is expected to go through.

Matheus Nunes’ signing could lead to a change in system

If the bid from Manchester City to sign Matheus Nunes has indeed been accepted, it would be interesting to see whether Pep Guardiola decides to change his system.

Perhaps the idea could be to play Phil Foden as a No.10 behind Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland, with the Portuguese technician sitting behind the trio alongside Mateo Kovacic and Rodri.

After all, Alvarez has started in every league game this season and replaces De Bruyne’s venomous ball-striking from outside the box.

Guardiola has already tweaked his system this season, with Walker being used as a right-winger in possession to provide width on that side as well as Kovacic and Rodri sitting extremely deep.

But of course, predicting Guardiola’s plans is even a tall task for some of the best managers in the world.
