James Trafford could potentially take Ederson Moraes’ place as Manchester City’s brand-new number one.

With Manchester City holding talks to sign Trafford, they are prepared for the Brazilian international to leave this summer.

Galatasaray believe they will sign Ederson eventually as well.

With the 31-year-old being a bona fide Manchester City legend, his potential exit after the departures of Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker indicates that Pep Guardiola’s side are entering a new era next season.

Man City legend Ederson agrees Galatasaray move

Signed by City in 2017, Ederson instantly had a transformative impact on Pep Guardiola’s side as he was the man between the sticks as they won the Premier League, putting a record 100 points on the board.

However, Ederson admitted he underwhelmed last season as his performances have come under scrutiny since the 2024/2025 campaign.

Now, journalist Yagiz Sabincuoglou has revealed that Galatasaray have reached an agreement to sign the Manchester City legend.

The journalist added that Galatasaray are now in contact with the Sky Blues to agree on a transfer fee for the legendary goalkeeper, with Manchester City signing Ederson for £35 million eight years ago.

What Man City are currently working on to seal James Trafford move

It seems like the six-time Premier League winner will soon continue his illustrious career in Turkey.

Meanwhile, as Manchester City could become favourites to sign Trafford, they are currently negotiating with Burnley to reduce the fee of the £40 million release clause in his contract before completing a move, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Ashley Cole lauded Trafford after coaching him for England’s Under-21s and it seems like Manchester City could be signing a goalkeeper with world-class potential to possibly succeed Ederson.

The Englishman will have the burning desire to lead City into a new era of success if a move is completed, much like the former Benfica number one and Joe Hart.
