Manchester City have had a busy summer on the transfer front and they could yet make more signings over the next six or so weeks.
Manchester City’s goalkeeping department could be in line for reinforcements amid uncertain futures for both Ederson and Stefan Ortega.
Ederson is open to joining Galatasaray this summer, which means the Brazilian’s nine-year City stint could finally come to an end.
Meanwhile, Manchester City News exclusively revealed that Ortega could depart the Etihad Stadium as his camp are looking for clubs he could sign for next.
With that in mind, City are now eyeing a replacement goalkeeper with “world-class” potential – and they may soon have a clear path for his signature.

Newcastle United prepared to drop James Trafford interest as Manchester City circle
On Friday, Manchester City News relayed a report from Fabrizio Romano in which he claimed that Man City had set their sights on James Trafford.
The transfer insider reported that City have had contacts with Trafford’s camp over the past few days.
As City have a buyback clause – believed to be £40million – this has stalled Newcastle’s efforts to sign the 22-year-old stopper.
Now, the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope has taken to X with an update, namely that he understands Newcastle are now prepared to walk away from a deal.
“It’s not dead yet, and a 12-month pursuit shows how much they admire the player,” Hope continued.
“But I understand the club are also comfortable with their current goalkeeper situation.
“It wouldn’t necessarily be a case of identifying another goalkeeper target.
“Let’s see what happens, but the vibes on this for the past fortnight have been less positive than they once were.
“Man City interest also a complication, although I’m told that’s been in background all summer.”
How Manchester City could make amends for previous lack of foresight
One area in which Man City have not done particularly well in recent years has been their foresight in terms of talent retention.
Trafford, Morgan Rogers, Cole Palmer and Brahim Diaz are just a few of the players who have developed into great players since leaving City.
In Palmer’s case, City reportedly didn’t insist on a buyback clause with Chelsea as they felt the player wasn’t indispensable.
City definitely dropped the ball with regards to Palmer, but it should be a different story with Trafford, given there appears to be a buyback clause.
