Manchester City jet off to Saudi Arabia after Saturday’s clash against Crystal Palace to partake in the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Citizens have earned a spot in the prestigious competition following last season’s UEFA Champions League success – and Pep Guardiola now has the chance to win Manchester City a trophy the club has never previously secured.

Before a ball has even been kicked – however – Manchester City have some money in the bank from the FIFA Club World Cup

How Manchester City have already made money from the FIFA Club World Cup

Well, each side involved in the FIFA Club World Cup receives some prize money, ranking from $0.5m (£398,000) – given to the club who finish last in seventh place – to the maximum cash prize of $5m (£4m) for the winners.

We have already detailed everything that will happen if Manchester City win the FIFA Club World Cup.

However – before a ball has been kicked – Manchester City have already got themselves $2m (£1.6m).

The treble winners are allowed to start the FIFA Club World Cup at the Semi-Final stage due to the club’s status as European champions, which means Manchester City are guaranteed to at least finish fourth.

Fourth place results in a $2m (£1.6m) cash prize – so that has effectively already been secured by Manchester City regardless of how things turn out in Saudi Arabia.

You can see the total range of prize money below.

Of course, a sum of £1.6m will not mean that much to Manchester City – who are among the richest clubs on the planet. The Telegraph claim Guardiola’s side posted record breaking revenues of £712m last season.

Nevertheless, any cash injection is a welcome one, and the treble winners can already bank £1.6m before their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup even begins on Tuesday 19th December.

If Manchester City win the FIFA Club World Cup – however – they cannot wear the iconic FIFA Champions Badge in the Premier League.
