Ederson is one of Manchester City’s most experienced players.
Having been at the Etihad Stadium since 2017 when he signed from Benfica for £35m, the goalkeeper has made 341 appearances for City in total.
In fact, only Bernardo Silva (364) and Kevin De Bruyne (347) have made more appearances under Pep Guardiola than the Brazil international.
Speaking of the City manager, this could end up being his final season at the Manchester club, as his contract is set to expire in the summer.
With that in mind, Ederson has made an interesting behind-the-scenes claim about Guardiola’s future and how the club will deal with his departure.

Ederson makes Pep Guardiola replacement claim
Speaking in a recent interview with TNT Sports Brazil (via BBC Sport), Ederson gave this assessment on the subject of Guardiola’s eventual exit from City.
He said: “Today City is a very well-structured club, well-managed, great directors, great CEO.
“I believe the club already has the next manager in mind to the day Pep decides to leave, they will try to follow the same line of work.
“Of course it’d be a great loss, we’re talking about the best manager in the world, but I see a really well-prepared club for the post-Pep era.”
Guardiola gave a recent update about his future
Since being appointed as City’s manager back in 2016 following successful spells in charge of Barcelona and Bayern Munich, the 53-year-old has overlooked 483 matches in total.
Across those games, the Blues have won 357, drawn 60 and lost 66, picking up multiple trophies in the process.
During the recent international break, Guardiola opened up about his future and gave this update while appearing as a guest on an Italian TV show.
He said: “I can promise you that had I made a decision on whether to stay or to leave [Manchester City], I would tell you.”
In terms of who could be in the frame to eventually take the reins from the Catalan, a recent report from The Athletic named Ruben Amorim and Xabi Alonso as potential replacements for Guardiola.
Now that Ederson has claimed that people behind the scenes at the Etihad know who will eventually replace Guardiola, it’ll be interesting to know if he means they have a specific name in mind or they just know they type of manager they want to take the baton from the current City boss.
