Peter Crouch has said that he doubts Erling Haaland can get any better than he already is.
The £51.2 million (Eurosport) man has 52 goals in all competitions, which has made the former Liverpool striker question whether he could further improve after having set such high standards.
On the latest episode of The Peter Crouch Podcast, the man himself was stunned by the magnificence of Erling Haaland.
Peter Crouch stunned by Erling Haaland exploits
Branded as ‘ridiculous’ by Ben Foster and the ‘best footballer in the world’ by Wayne Rooney, the footballing world has been taken aback by the 22-year-old’s generational goalscoring ability.
To have shattered age-old records without breaking a sweat at such a young age just goes to show that we are witnessing greatness while watching Haaland at Manchester City.
So much so that Peter Crouch almost cannot believe how Erling Haaland can improve any further than the levels he has already reached.
“If you sign a player of that calibre, you can’t go, ‘well, they had him and they didn’t win it [Champions League]. They’ve signed him and he’s done amazing, so it’s a success, isn’t it [even if Manchester City do not win the Champions League]?”
Peter Crouch touched on Erling Haaland and the prospect of him reaching new levels next season by saying, “I don’t know how he can improve. Surely, you can’t beat those numbers again. As long as he continues to do the same things, then I think he’s going to smash every record we’ve ever had in any league, in any competition. He looks that good.”
At the end of the day, this is not a case where Peter Crouch is doubting Erling Haaland but more in awe of how incredible a player he is.
After all, in the Premier League especially, what Haaland has produced will be spoken about for decades on end and that too, in his debut campaign.
