Manchester City full-back Sergio Gomez is looking forward to a reunion with Vincent Kompany on Friday.
The Spaniard will be at Turf Moor for City’s opening Premier League game against the Clarets.
City are looking to swiftly move on from the defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield.
But former City captain Kompany will be standing in the way of three points.
The Etihad legend will be determined to make a statement, and will also be looking for revenge after City’s thumping 6-0 win over Burnley in the FA Cup last season.
Gomez is looking forward to the contest.
And the youngster has shared what Kompany said to him earlier this summer.
Sergio Gomez shares conversation he had with Vincent Kompany
Gomez knows Kompany better than most.
The 22-year-old actually played under the Belgian at Anderlecht, before both headed to England last year.

Gomez has a good relationship with the 37-year-old.
And he shared details of a conversation he had with him earlier this summer. He told the mancity.com: “I talked to him during the holidays – while I was at the Euros.
“He congratulated me on the results of the tournament and on all the titles we had won. I will talk to him for sure and it’ll be good to see him before we start a new Premier League season.”
On Friday’s game, Gomez added: “For me the match against Burnley is going to be a nice game because I spent a year with Vincent in which he helped me grow a lot as a player.
“It will be a pleasure to play against him.
“He had a great season last year and Burnley deserves to be in the Premier League so we know it will be a tough challenge.”
An important season for Gomez
2023/24 is an important season for Gomez.
In the eyes of a lot of City fans, there are still question marks about Gomez as a long-term option.
The £11 million man hasn’t quite managed prove himself yet.
But it’s been difficult for him, with so many world-class players in the squad.

But there is a player there. Gomez showed his attacking talents at the U21s Euros in Georgia, so perhaps more opportunities await him on the wing.
But he needs to make the most of the opportunities when they come.
Because there’s a chance he could be sold or loaned out next summer if he doesn’t.
