It has been reported that Kyle Walker is now likely to turn down a transfer to Bayern Munich in order to stay at Manchester City.

This comes from Sky journalist Rob Dorsett via Football Daily, after the £50 million (Guardian) man was reported to be in talks over a contract extension with City beyond 2024 on Monday.

Now, Kyle Walker could well be set to reject a move to Bayern Munich in favour of extending his stay at Manchester City.

Branded as an ‘elite performer’ by The Athletic, the 33-year-old was reported to be open to joining the German giants, having been disappointed by his limited playing time last season.

In addition, Walker was gutted to not have started in the Champions League final against Inter Milan in Istanbul.

However, it seems like Kyle Walker has changed his mind and while Bayern Munich remain interested in his signature, his heart is set on staying put at Manchester City.

“My understanding is Kyle Walker wants to stay at Manchester City. He wants to sign an extension to his contract, if possible. He absolutely loves it at Manchester City, they’ve just won the treble, why would he want to leave?”, Dorsett said.

He continued to elaborate on how Bayern Munich could lose out on Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker, saying, “That’s the way it’s been described to me. And I would be staggered if Kyle Walker became a Bayern Munich player for next season. It’s clear that Munich want him but let’s see if they come up with an offer that appeals to Manchester City.”

“But of course, in any transfer deal, the clubs have to agree a fee and then the player has to agree to go and whilst there isn’t any situation where he wouldn’t want to go to Munich. But he would rather stay at Manchester City.”

If Kyle Walker does end up declining a transfer to Bayern Munich, he would also have a chance at trying to regain his starting place at Manchester City once again.
