Former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is about to take on his first season in charge of Bayern Munich.

Following his two-year stint in charge of Burnley where he got them promoted out of the Championship and then relegated back to it, Kompany was appointed as Bayern’s new manager back in May.

Even though the new season is about to start, footage has recently emerged of the Belgian shouting at Burnley’s Johann Berg Gudmundsson during a training session last season, which has since caused a stir in the football realm.

This has now led to one pundit and former top-flight star sharing his thoughts on this footage which is set to be included in the new series of Mission To Burnley.

Ian Wright reacts to Vincent Kompany Burnley footage

Featuring in a recent episode of Stick To Football, Ian Wright had this to say about the footage of the City defender berating the Burnley player on the training pitch last season.

He said: “It was a tough one to watch, that.

“It seemed to me like he was angry at something else. And then obviously Gudmundsson, he might be somebody that maybe moans a lot. And then he obviously didn’t moan too much in this particular incident.

“But you know, like when the manager comes in and he’s having a go at your half time and if you catch his eyes, he goes for you and I think he went for him.

“And to be fair to him, he had a little go back because he said, ‘What are you talking about?’ There was a lot of swearing.

“You hear people say a lot about, oh, you can’t speak to them like this and that. Obviously, you still can, obviously you can.

“But like what I’d say and what I was pleased to see is that he didn’t shirk away and just let him just hammer into him.”

Kompany has a big job on his hands at Bayern

Back in March, Pep Guardiola predicted that Kompany, who is a certified legend of the Manchester club, would one day become City’s manager.

Having lost 24 of their 38 Premier League games last season, it’s easy to see why tempers may have easily flared at Burnley on the training ground last season.

With Wright now sharing his reaction to this footage of Kompany and Gudmundsson’s shouting match last season, we think it’d be interesting to see whether the Belgian takes a similar approach to any of his Bayern players throughout the upcoming season.
