Manchester City take on Chelsea this weekend – and Paul Merson has now made his score prediction for the game.

Pep Guardiola’s side are back down in London, looking to make it four Premier League wins on the bounce.

They meet a Chelsea side who have just done what no other side in the division has managed this term – beat Tottenham Hotspur. The Blues won 4-1 against the Lilywhites on Monday, although their task was made fairly easy in the end after Spurs went down to nine men after two red cards.

City are favourites, but how does Merson see the game going? He gave his thoughts ahead of Sunday’s big clash…

City have a good record over Chelsea in recent times.

Since the Blues beat City in the Champions League final, Pep Guardiola’s side have won all six meetings across all competitions.

But that win over Spurs will have left them feeling very buoyant, and Chelsea have some dangerous players, including former City duo Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer.

Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane thinks it’ll be a comfortable win for City on Sunday.

But Merson agrees with Gary Neville that the game will be a draw.

Predicting a 1-1 scoreline, he said (Sportskeeda): “I was bullish last week when I said Chelsea were going to beat Tottenham. I said it because Chelsea like teams coming at them. I think there’ll be some outstanding battles all over the pitch.

“Chelsea will cause City problems and vice versa. But I still don’t see the Blues winning this one. I’d indeed be shocked if they won this one.

“That’s only because Manchester City have so many game-changers on their side. They are spoilt for choice as always. I just don’t see how any team will finish above Manchester City this season. I’m hoping that Chelsea get a draw here..”

City well-placed to continue winning run over Chelsea

Many City fans will be feeling confident ahead of this game with Chelsea.

The Blues are starting to improve under Pochettino, but City are back in fine fettle after stuttering in the absence of Rodri.

It’s five wins out of five since club football resumed after the last international break.

Erling Haaland is back in the goals, and Jeremy Doku is looking razor-sharp right now.

The injury to John Stones is not ideal, but City have plenty in their arsenal to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
