Kevin De Bruyne has revealed when he could make his return from injury.
Speaking to Sky Sports F1 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, De Bruyne was quizzed about when he could be fully fit after getting injured at the start of the season against Burnley.
During the Belgian international’s absence, Julian Alvarez has operated as the Sky Blues’ No.10.
Kevin De Bruyne says he could return from injury just after the New Year
In November, Pep Guardiola said that the 32-year-old was in the “last phase” of his recovery process before he could return to training with the first-team.
However, the Catalan tactician did not provide any return date as he feels that it is tough to do so when it comes to such long-term injuries.
But now, Manchester City legend Kevin De Bruyne himself has said that he could recover from injury to return to the pitch just after the New Year.

“I’m getting along. Still got a little bit to go but I’m getting there. I’m hoping closely after New Year if everything goes well”, he told Sky Sports F1.
Best possible news from a Manchester City perspective
As Glenn Hoddle said, regardless of the injury suffered by Kevin De Bruyne and his prolonged absence, he remains Manchester City’s “best player.”
Last season as well, the former VFL Wolfsburg midfielder once again showcased why he is up there amongst the very best players on the planet in what was yet another superb individual campaign from him.
The treble-winner’s absence has impacted the Sky Blues, as he is arguably the standout creator of his generation, making him an irreplaceable figure in the side.
While Julian Alvarez has performed well in the hole behind Erling Haaland, he lacks the vision and range of passing that Kevin De Bruyne has in abundance.
Considering the midfield maestro tends to truly come alive during the business end of the season as well, the fact that he could make his return during January should be music to the ears of Manchester City supporters worldwide.
