Manchester City were comprehensively beaten 2-0 by a Liverpool side who demonstrated once again why they are ready to beat them to the Premier League title this season.

Pep Guardiola’s men managed to hang on for much of the contest after Cody Gakpo opened the scoring for the hosts at Anfield as early as within 12 minutes.

Despite Arne Slot’s side creating plenty of chances, Manchester City defended valiantly and heading into the second half, it seemed like there was a possibility that they could come back into the contest.

However, Mohamed Salah capped off yet another fine evening for him in a Liverpool shirt by beating Stefan Ortega from the penalty after having initially assisted Gakpo’s opening strike.

As for Manchester City, their titles hopes are hanging by a thread.

Jamie Carragher slams Kyle Walker after Man City vs Liverpool

One of Manchester City’s biggest underperformers was Kyle Walker against Liverpool, who Jamie Carragher feels has become a weak link for them nowadays.

Carragher stated on Sky Sports: “He can switch off and that’s always been the negative about him. He doesn’t look again and switches off.”

“That has been a problem throughout his career. That is nothing to do with his age.”

“He has become a little bit of a liability for Man City.”

Manchester City fans slammed Walker as well and demanded him to be sold by the club, who also erred in the lead-up to Salah’s goal as he was dispossessed by Luis Diaz, who eventually won the penalty.

Walker’s thoughts on facing Liverpool ahead of his side’s loss revealed that him and his City teammates were up for the battle.

The £50 million man was also left for dead by Timo Werner in Manchester City’s 4-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur, who set Brennan Johnson’s goal up.

Micah Richards questioned Walker’s leadership vs Liverpool

Micah Richards questioned Walker’s leadership when breaking down his defending for Gakpo’s goal, as he completed lost the Dutch winger at the back post.

Richards said on Sky Sports: “Your captain is meant to be the leader on the pitch. [Walker] He was jogging back and this is what is costing Man City.”

“Individual mistakes that keep costing them. The fact he is ball watching constantly, we need him to be the leader on the pitch. Talk and organise.”

Walker will be hoping that Manchester City return to winning ways against Nottingham Forest.
