Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side suffered a 2-0 defeat to Arne Slot’s Liverpool at Anfield to further dampen their hopes of winning the Premier League title.

In the build-up to the fixture, Ilkay Gundogan addressed City’s title hopes by admitting that in the event that the visitors lost the game, they could find it virtually impossible to win the coveted trophy this season.

Liverpool, who were the favourites heading into the contest lived up to the billing, with goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah sealing their victory.

Kyle Walker revealed Manchester City’s willingness to get over the line against the Reds away from home, who have managed to extend their lead over them at the top of the league table to 11 points.

Kyle Walker did not cover himself in glory during the clash himself.

For Gakpo’s opening goal, the Manchester City right-back left the Dutchman unmarked and gifted him the chance to score a routine tap-in.

Man City fans want Kyle Walker sold after Liverpool defeat

The £50 million man also played a major role in helping Liverpool double their lead, losing the ball to Luis Diaz who won the penalty that led to Salah’s strike.

Manchester City fans online expressed that it is high-time that the club offload Walker.

A Sky Blues fan wrote: “I need to say this, Walker needs to be sold, [Kevin] De Bruyne needs to go.”

Another Manchester City supporter expressed: “Sell Walker to Saudi [Arabia] and return [Ilkay] Gundogan to Barcelona.”

A City fan also demanded for Walker to give up the armband: “Get Walker out of my club now. Take his place in the dressing room and give it to anyone in the academy. Strip him of the captaincy Fold his shirt and send him anywhere you want.”

Lastly, a Manchester City supporter wrote: “Walker has got to go, thank you for all the years but he’s got to go, he’s a liability right now.”

Walker stats vs Liverpool

It’s safe to say that Walker seems to have lost all the faith City fans once had in him.

In September, Rico Lewis lauded Walker as the greatest full-back in Premier League history.

While the 34-year-old’s status as a Premier League great remains intact, even the statistics reveal how much he struggled to play against Liverpool.

Both offensively and defensively, Walker had a nightmare of a game.

The 34-year-old will be hoping to improve upon his performances moving forward as his struggles continue this campaign.

Perhaps Pep Guardiola could be tempted to drop Walker as so far, he has shown no signs of redeeming himself.
