Joe Cole believes Sergio Aguero was the best striker in the Premier League for “a long time.”

The Argentine is remembered as one of the most devastating players to have ever graced the league, with Rio Ferdinand also recently admitting how difficult it was to go toe-to-toe with him.

Darren Bent also named the retired goalscorer in his all-time South American XI, alongside legendary players like Alisson Becker and Luis Suarez.

Despite having accomplished footballing immortality alongside Erling Haaland last season, Kevin De Bruyne also claimed that the 35-year-old as the “best all-round striker” he has ever played with due to how well-rounded his game was.

Modern-day goalscorers like Ivan Toney have also clearly inspired by the once-dimuntive forward, hailing him as one of his three favourite frontmen of all time.

Joe Cole has added to the praise centered around Sergio Aguero by claiming that he was the best striker in the Premier League for years.

“You can’t put him on [the] GOAT [greatest of all time tier], can you? You can’t put him on GOAT. He’s sort of flitting between elite and world-class [tiers] because he was the best striker in the Premier League for a long time”, he said on FIVE’s official YouTube channel.

Peter Crouch replied, “My problem with this list is I’m looking at the other names on the list and I’m comparing it to them.”

“Can I go world-class [tier] for now?”

Ultimately, Joe Cole and Peter Crouch decided that Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero belongs in the world-class tier of strikers, below the categories named “elite” and “GOAT.”

Sergio Aguero dominated the Premier League like not many other strikers

In our view, Joe Cole is spot on about Sergio Aguero, who dominated the Premier League in a way not many other strikers have.

Apart from Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney, not many other frontmen have been up there with one of the best strikers in the league for as long as the former Atletico Madrid number nine was.

Whether it be competing with Robin van Persie, Luis Suarez, Diego Costa or Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero was always one of, if not the best frontman in English football during his time at Manchester City.
