John Stones is one of the longest-serving players at Manchester City.

Arriving at the Etihad Stadium from Everton back in the 2016 summer transfer window, only Kevin De Bruyne has been at City for longer than Stones.

During his time with Pep Guardiola’s side, the 30-year-old has appeared in 258 games across all competitions, chipping in with 16 goals, seven assists and winning multiple trophies along the way.

Having played alongside a significant number of players during his time at City, Stones has named the one current teammate he thinks will go on to be a manager in the future.

John Stones names Ruben Dias as a potential future manager

During a recent edition of You’ll Never Beat Kyle Walker, the titular right-back called up Stones and asked him which of his City teammates he thinks will become a manager in the future.

In response, the centre-back said this on the matter.

He said: “I’d probably say Ruben [Dias].”

Dias has the leadership skills to be a manager

Back in the 2020 summer transfer window, City shelled out £65m to sign Dias from Benfica.

Since then, the defender has gone on to make 182 appearances for the Blues, playing a key role in their trophy successes on the domestic and European stages.

As part of City’s leadership group, the Portuguese international was hailed by Guardiola back in March last year when he told the club’s website that Dias’ character and behaviour has a very positive impact on the other players in the squad.

In addition to that, Oscar Bobb recently said that Dias’ mentality and dedication make him the most impressive player on the training pitch.

Taking all of that on board, it shouldn’t surprise too many City supporters that Stones has picked his fellow centre-back as being a potential manager in the future.
