Joleon Lescott says Bernardo Silva is capable of winning the Man of the Match award in a variety of positions.

The pundit praised Silva’s footballing intelligence on City’s official pre-match show on YouTube ahead of their latest victory against Urawa Red Diamonds in the Club World Cup semi-final.

After his dominant display in the Manchester Derby in October, Alan Shearer described the Portuguese international as a “manager’s dream.”

Jamie Carragher also hailed the £43 million (Telegraph) man as an “outstanding player” and emphasised that any team in world football would be open to having him on their books.

The 29-year-old is having yet another impressive season at the Etihad Stadium, with Conor Coady saying in November that he may be the best player in the Premier League.

Joleon Lescott praised how versatile Bernardo Silva is on Manchester City’s pre-match show on their YouTube on Tuesday, saying, “Bernardo Silva, wherever he plays, if he was to play false nine in the first half and then play as a [No.] six in the second half, he can still win Man of the Match and that is a unique skill to have, an understanding of the game.”

The Manchester City maestro showcased these traits against Urawa Red Diamonds

It is hard to disagree with Joleon Lescott as Bernardo Silva was utilised across various positions by Pep Guardiola during Manchester City’s 3-0 win against Urawa Red Diamonds.

Initially, the former AS Monaco technician was playing up front for the champions of Europe.

However, it seemed like the midfield maestro was deployed as a false nine as he was constantly dropping into deeper zones and impacting the game.

But soon after, Bernardo Silva was shifted to the right wing, from where he scored a deflected goal in the second half.

Several players would perhaps rightfully be frustrated by constantly being moved around on the pitch, especially during a game.

But Bernardo Silva comes across as the consummate professional as he simply puts his head down, adjusts and puts in praiseworthy displays.
