Manchester City fans are very much looking forward to the next couple of transfer windows.
The 2024/25 has been a real struggle so far, and it looks as though this squad is coming to the end of its cycle.
It has been a hugely successful past five years or so for Manchester City.
But it has become clear in recent weeks that there will need to be big changes in 2025, with many dependable players no longer performing consistently.
Players like Kyle Walker, Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne are all past their primes now, and some could be moving on next summer.
Walker has been particularly poor for City for quite some time now, and many feel he should be moved on next summer.
Walker was really poor against Liverpool, and that was only the latest bad performances after a string of poor ones from the captain this season.
There’s been some talk about replacements, and Joshua Kimmich has been mentioned.
Today, the German has dropped an update on his situation at Bayern Munich that may well interest Manchester City.

Joshua Kimmich says he’ll decide his future in January, amid Man City transfer speculation

Kimmich is a player City have had eyes on for a while.
City were linked with Kimmich in January 2024, and it was claimed the club were considering a swoop in the summer, when he would only have one year left on his contract. But nothing materialised.
City have continued to be linked with Kimmich since then, but there have also been suggestions Kimmich could sign a new contract with Bayern.
Whatever is going to happen, we will find out very soon. Because Kimmich has now spoken about his situation – and his comments may place City on alert.
He is quoted by journalist Fabrizio Romano as saying: “I will not wait until summer. I will sit down in winter and then try to see the bigger picture. In January, I will make the right decision.”
Kimmich would be a fantastic signing for Man City
Given the struggles of Walker, and also the need for someone to play in the holding midfield area, Kimmich could be a really good signing for City.
Granted, he tends not to play as a right-back much these days. But he still has a lot of experience in that position, and he might just be someone who could be perfect at inverting into midfield from right-back, as those are his two positions.

There have been calls for City to reduce the average age of the squad. Kimmich will turn 30 in February, but he’s got to be a player worth considering, especially because his current contract situation means he’ll leave for free next summer.
The £325,000-a-week star is so experienced, versatile and technical, and he has obviously worked with Guardiola before at Bayern.
It sounds like he’ll soon make a decision on his future. With claims he could extend, City might want to start making some inquiries to his team of representatives.
