The finer details of the agreement between Manchester City and Newcastle for Alfie Harrison have emerged.

It was Simon Bajkowski of the Manchester Evening News who shared the information.

So, what is the situation involving Alfie Harrison? Let’s take a look…

Details of Alfie Harrison to Newcastle revealed

Well – according to Bajkowski – Manchester City could make up to £3.5m after selling the City Football Academy graduate, on the basis of clauses being triggered.

The Citizens will receive a small guaranteed fee upfront while also negotiating a 40% sell-on clause in the deal.

Bajkowski wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “18-year-old exciting prospect Alfie Harrison worth keeping an eye on after moving from Manchester City academy to Newcastle in this window.

“Only a small fee up front for Newcastle but deal could end up at £3.5m and City have also inserted a 40% sell-on”.

Harrison secures a move to Newcastle after impressing in the U18 Premier League so far this season, scoring eight goals in eight appearances while also providing four assists.

The 18-year-old has even drawn comparisons to Erling Haaland as a result of his blonde ponytail and clinical finishing skills.

Manchester City continue to profit from the City Football Academy

While Manchester City run the risk of being criticised if Harrison excels at Newcastle – as we have seen after Cole Palmer began life at Chelsea superbly well – this is another shrewd piece of business.

Harrison was unlikely to get much action under Pep Guardiola given his status as a central midfielder – even Kalvin Phillips could barely get a minute of playing time ahead of Rodri, Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes, Rico Lewis, Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne.

Therefore, cashing in on the teenager – whose sale secures Manchester City 100% profit in the accounts due to his status as an academy product – makes plenty of sense, although some fans were still left unhappy by the news.
