Manchester City are getting used to seeing big-name players leave the club.

For instance, four members of Pep Guardiola’s squad waved goodbye to the Etihad Stadium during the previous summer transfer period.

In this current window, Sergio Gomez has been the only senior player to be sold so far, with the Spaniard joining Real Sociedad last month.

Now though, a journalist has made a claim regarding another City player who could be following Gomez out the door before the end of the month.

Journalist says it’s likely that Julian Alvarez will leave Man City this summer

In a recent post shared on his X account, journalist Gaston Edul had this to say on the situation.

He said: “Atletico de Madrid advanced for him and is going to present a formal offer that will be around 60 million euros [£51m].

“PSG has just made a formal offer to Manchester City. It is superior to that of Atletico Madrid both for the club and for him.

“Unresolved future but increasingly feasible his departure from Manchester City. It is very likely that he will change clubs. It will end up happening.

“There is nothing from Chelsea. They are those two clubs. Madrid has the advantage for the City but PSG’s contractual offer is considerably higher.”

City would need to sign a replacement if they sell Alvarez

Even though Alvarez appeared in 54 games across all competitions last season, he recently told the media that he found it annoying being left out of the team for some of City’s biggest matches of the campaign.

Now that Edul has claimed that not only are Atletico and PSG interested in signing the Argentine but also that it’s very likely he’ll be leaving City, this says to us that the club will need to secure a replacement if they do end up selling.
