Julian Alvarez has made his feelings clear about one aspect of his time at Manchester City that he did not enjoy last season.
One of Fabrizio Romano’s latest revelations about Alvarez is that he will “discuss” his future with City this week.
Last week, it was reported that the Manchester City striker wishes to depart the club this summer; desiring more game time and a country where him and his family would prefer the hotter weather.
Several pundits have had their say on Alvarez’s future at City.

Julian Alvarez shares complaint about being at Man City last season
Frank Leboeuf believes a player of the World Cup winner’s status should not be relegated to being a squad player at Manchester City.
While Shaka Hislop feels Pep Guardiola’s side would “regret” selling the Argentine.
Speaking to Argentine outlet Clarin, Alvarez admitted that he was not amused by being left out of the Manchester City side for several of their crucial fixtures last season.
“I feel good at City. Last season, I played a lot of games. But yeah, we’ll see after the [Olympic] games, if I get some days of vacation or something and see what happens.”
“Yeah, it’s more what people say online than anything I feel. Obviously, as I said, I played a lot of games last season and maybe it’s annoying to get left out of important games because as a footballer, you always want to play and help the team on the pitch.”
There were valid reasons for Julian Alvarez to be benched
While Alvarez was left out of the side by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola during important games in the second half of last season, the list of reasons were valid.
Firstly, the persistent experiment of deploying the 24-year-old as a number 10 was a mixed bag throughout the campaign.
Secondly, the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland, who were injured at key junctures of last season returned to full fitness; two players whose absences meant Alvarez was either guaranteed to play as an attacking midfielder or up front.
Thirdly, Phil Foden’s remarkable form as well as the return of De Bruyne and Haaland meant it became a challenge for Pep Guardiola to also find a spot for the 24-year-old in the team.
