Manchester City have crossed paths with Real Madrid numerous times over the past few years on the pitch.
In fact, the two sides have played each other in the three previous Champions League tournaments.
Despite that, City have only conducted transfer business a couple of times in recent years. Specifically, they signed Danilo back in 2017 and sold Brahim Diaz to Real in 2019.
However, a journalist has now shared an update regarding one current Real star who has been mentioned with a move to the Etihad Stadium recently.

Journalist shares Rodrygo update amid latest Man City link
Following recent reports suggesting that Real Madrid could offer City the chance to sign Rodrygo this summer following their sale of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid for £81m (via BBC Sport), journalist Mario Cortegana had this update to share in a post on his official X account.
He said: “Rodrygo – Man. City. [Pep] Guardiola a big admirer of the Brazilian. Rodrygo’s camp insist he will stay at least one more season. Real Madrid don’t expect a bid from City.”
City shouldn’t be focused on signing Rodrygo this summer
During his time at the Spanish club, the Brazilian, who Real value at €120m (£102m) according to Mundo Deportivo (via Forbes), has scored 54 goals and delivered 41 assists in 216 appearances across all competitions.
With City having multiple wide options in their squad such as Jeremy Doku, Savinho, Jack Grealish and Oscar Bobb, we feel that the club shouldn’t be concerning themselves with a move for Rodrygo, especially since Cortegana has now claimed that the winger will likely be staying where he is for now.
Moving forward, if City still have an interest in the Brazil international next summer or beyond, he certainly has the talent to be worth making a potential move for in our opinion.
