Vitor Reis has completed his loan move to Girona.
The Brazilian joined Man City as part of a £30m deal in January, and having only played four times for the Manchester club since, there was uncertainty over what to do with the 19-year-old ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
At one point this summer, Guardiola did not want to let Reis leave on loan, as the centre-back would be ideal cover for Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol throughout the upcoming campaign.
However, it was Reis who decided to leave Man City, as the defender believes a loan move gives him a better chance of being called up to represent the Brazil national team at the World Cup next summer.
Girona have now got a loan deal for Reis over the line, and it is fair to say, Man City fans are not happy about the transfer.

Man City fans want Vitor Reis to stay over Manuel Akanji
Girona confirmed the loan signing of Reis on Friday morning, which is a simple 12-month agreement with no buy options attached.
The agreement with the La Liga club will help the 19-year-old develop at a team that plays similarly to Pep Guardiola, while it also exposes the Brazilian to one of the best leagues in the world; however, Man City fans are not happy.
Supporters of the Manchester outfit are stunned by their club’s decision to let Reis go and keep Manuel Akanji, who had a poor season last time around.
One Man City fan reacted to the Reis news on X (formerly known as Twitter) by writing: “Reis going and Akanji staying is not what I want to see, but I guess Pep will use him as RB too if we are not getting anyone.”
A second City supporter said: “Can we send Akanji on loan to Scunthorpe United?”
A final Man City fan commented on the Reis news with: “This means Akanji is staying.”
How Man City’s centre-back situation will look in 12 months
With Dias set to sign a new contract at Man City and Gvardiol being the best centre-back at the Etihad Stadium, the plan for Reis will be to return next summer to support the duo, with the eventual aim of taking over from the Portuguese defender.
John Stones is not expected to be offered a new contract by the Manchester club when his current deal expires at the end of the season, while City fans are likely to get their wish with Akanji, with the Swiss international likely to be sold next summer.
Abdukodir Khusanov will provide Reis with competition, but the Premier League giants have high hopes for the Brazilian, who Ederson thinks can become one of the best centre-backs in the world.
