A fresh revelation has emerged about Manchester City not being in for a player they have been heavily linked with for the past couple of weeks.
In terms of their recruitment, City have come across as one of the few clubs in world football who never take any rash decisions in the transfer market in the past few years.
Pep Guardiola’s men quietly go about their business, have a list of targets and seemingly set a price tag over which they refuse to pay to sign players; a strategy that has left them in good stead to say the least.
While Guardiola’s genius and the quality of their squad has led to their remarkable success in recent seasons, their approach to recruitment could be one of the main factors behind them potentially continuing to be successful even after their legendary manager’s departure.

Journalist shares fresh Dani Olmo to Manchester City transfer update
On Wednesday, it was claimed that the Manchester City boss has considered the signing of Dani Olmo since the start of the 2022/2023 season.
Olmo’s €60 million (£50.5 million) release clause will now remain valid until July 20 instead of July 15 due to him qualifying for the Euro 2024 final with Spain, as per Fabrizio Romano is the kind of player City usually sign; a top player who has the potential to be world-class and take his game to the next level.
The 26-year-old could be on the right side of history on Sunday night if Luis de la Fuente’s side beat England in the final of the European Championship.
The RB Leipzig attacker will be in a straight shootout with Harry Kane to win the Golden Boot — currently having the edge over other players with three goals like Jamal Musiala, Ivan Schranz and Georges Mikautadze due to also registering two assists in the tournament.
However, journalist Alex Crook has reported that Manchester City are not looking to sign Olmo in the summer transfer window.
Manchester City need a central midfielder more than Dani Olmo
Ultimately, Manchester City are in serious need of a central midfielder more than Olmo.
The Spanish international does not have the engine to play alongside Rodri in a double pivot at the Etihad Stadium.
Currently, Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic are well-capable of playing in those roles.
However, Bernardo is often asked to play out wide due to City’s lack of a right-winger in their squad while Kovacic lacks the eye for goal a midfielder like Gundogan offered and the former’s legs in the middle of the park.
A potential upgrade in that position would be a much bigger priority for the Sky Blues in the summer.
