Manchester City are back on the road this weekend as their Premier League campaign resumes.
Following the latest international break, City will be taking on Wolves at Molineux for their latest away match of the season.
Prior to that, the champions picked up a 3-2 win over Fulham at the Etihad Stadium, although Mateo Kovacic said Ederson rescued City from getting a different result with the saves he made in the match.
Pep Guardiola is no stranger to seeing a significant number of players from City’s squad feature on the international stage during these breaks.
However, this subject could potentially be something that the Blues use to their advantage this weekend based on something specific to Gary O’Neil’s side.
Man City could benefit from Wolves issue ahead of Molineux clash
With Brazilian duo Andre and Joao Gomes in action for Brazil, they won’t be back in the Midlands until later than others.
This is not only due to the fact that Brazil are in action at 1.45 am UK time on Wednesday morning against Peru but also because of the extensive journey back to England afterwards.
While Gomes is one of the four players to start all seven matches for Wolves this season, Andre has started four of the last five he’s appeared in.
City can’t afford to drop points
Even though the Old Gold are currently sat at the bottom of the league table having picked up just one point from their opening seven matches of the campaign, City won’t be seeing Sunday’s match as a guaranteed win.
This will mainly be due to the fact that they were handed the first of their three defeats from last season at Molineux.
In fact, Danny Murphy recently said that a positive result for Wolves against City wouldn’t surprise him this weekend.
However, with Wolves potentially not having two of their key players not in the best possible shape, this is an advantage that could work in City’s favour despite the number of figures they’ve had in action over the latest international break.
