Manchester City are still reeling from the fact that they took the surprising decision of selling Cole Palmer to Chelsea, who would potentially start for them nowadays.
Even though Palmer has blown hot and cold in his second season at Chelsea, there is no doubt about him being one of the best players in the Premier League.
However, even Manchester City broke the Blues’ hearts by signing Kevin De Bruyne in 2015, who went from being a bit-part player under Jose Mourinho to one of English football’s greatest foreign imports.
Ultimately, clubs make regretful decisions to sell young players who go on to become superstars and such calls are merely a part and parcel of football.
Man City could pull off a Cole Palmer-style move by signing Tino Livramento
Ahead of the summer transfer window, Manchester City have shortlisted Tino Livramento as their replacement for Kyle Walker, who is set to depart the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season.
The West Londoners famously sold the Englishman to Southampton for £5 million (Guardian), who went on to sign for Newcastle United and is now one of the league’s best full-backs.
With Livramento just being 22 and established in the Premier League, there would be no better place for him to further hone his craft than under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

For one, Guardiola has worked with a number of full-backs similar to the youngster like Philipp Lahm and Joao Cancelo, who are also equally capable of playing on both flanks.
With Manchester City already seeming to plan for life with Livramento with their recent 2-4-2-2 setup where the full-backs stay high and wide, the Newcastle defender could have an instant impact — considering Eddie Howe utilises him in a similar manner.
Much like Alexander Isak, City would also offer the former Chelsea academy graduate the chance to put balls into the box to another elite striker like Erling Haaland — who remains similarly stationed inside the box for a majority of games.
Livramento could truly become a world-class player at Manchester City, also due to Pep Guardiola’s track record of improving full-backs, with names like Walker, Cancelo and Oleksandr Zinchenko rolling off the tongue.
Considering Chelsea lack a more in-form right-back in their ranks like the Croydon-born wonderkid and seeing him potentially move to the Etihad Stadium and become a star would hurt them.
Players to have played for both Man City and Chelsea
Manchester City could sign Nicolo Savona after reportedly reaching personal terms and Livramento is apparently their second-choice target behind Wesley France in the full-back position.
However, it could be argued that the Carabao Cup winner is the most talented player out of the bunch.
If Livramento did end up signing for Pep Guardiola’s men, he could become the 20th player to have played for both Manchester City and Chelsea.

Livramento would like to do so as well if he fancies a move to Manchester City this summer.
