Manchester City won 2-0 against Huddersfield to book a place in the Fourth Round of the Carabao Cup.

Thanks to goals from Phil Foden and Savinho. City comfortably beat the League One outfit.

The Englishman was on fire in particular, as he scored a splendid goal from outside the box to open the scoring and proceeded to assist the Brazilian’s late strike.

Manchester City fans were in agreement about Foden being the best player on the pitch against Huddersfield.

Man City name Phil Foden as the best player on the pitch vs Huddersfield

One Manchester City fan claimed Foden was his Man of the Match against Huddersfield, writing: “Comfortable night. Foden MOTM, Nico G. [Gonzalez] with an excellent Rodri impression, [Divine] Mukasa very impressive.”

A second City supporter also raved about how well the 25-year-old performs when given the freedom to run the show centrally: “Foden centrally is a different animal when he’s giving freedom and a decent volume of touches— he’s a match winner (we don’t have enough of them).”

Foden was struggling last season but a third Manchester City fan believes that his latest heroics against Huddersfield further indicate he is back to his best: “Phil Foden is well and truly back. Such a brilliant player and in wonderful form. Any optimism around City’s season feels like it from this version of him and big Erling Haaland.”

Considering Pep Guardiola is trusting Foden in deeper areas this season, another supporter revealed that if he keeps performing, how he is currently playing will be the iteration of the midfielder he enjoys the most: “If Foden keeps this up, this will be my favourite version of him so far, he has everything now.”

Another supporter noticed the Stockport-born attacker embrace his responsibility as one of the senior players in the side on Wednesday night: “Phil Foden has really turned to a role model for all the City academy boys, they look up to him and what he has achieved. They’re learning a lot from him and he’s making sure to teach them what they need to know to go and be elite players and starters for the club.”

Finally, a sixth Manchester City fan claimed that when Foden is confident, he is one of the 10 best players in the world: “Phil Foden, when he knows he’s the best player on the pitch is a top 10 footballer in the world.”

Rio Ferdinand called Foden an “unreal” player and after being far from his best last season, City fans will be delighted to see that he is in cracking form.

Phil Foden’s stats during Huddersfield vs Man City

The six-time Premier League winner well and truly ran the show despite the hosts setting up in a low block.

Foden’s stats from his exploits against Huddersfield further justify why Manchester City lauded his performance.
