Man City fans are all saying the same thing after Morgan Gibbs-White signs new Nottingham Forest contract

After spending months trying to sign Morgan Gibbs-White, Manchester City seemed to back away from the race to secure his services.

Manchester City chose not to sign Gibbs-White as they felt a better allocation of their resources would have been to sign multiple midfielders in one transfer window as they brought in both Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki.

Tottenham Hotspur were targeting Gibbs-White’s addition, who has decided to stay at Nottingham Forest by signing a brand-new contract until 2028.

Manchester City fans believe that in the summer of 2026, they will get their hands on the Englishman.

Man City fans predict Etihad Stadium move for Morgan Gibbs-White despite new contract

One Manchester City fan predicted Morgan Gibbs-White to make his way to the Etihad Stadium as he expects the old guard of Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic to leave the club by then, writing: “[Contract extension] Only till 2028? Yeah, see you next summer MGW when Kova, Gundo and Bernardo are gone.”

A second City supporter also reacted to the news by simply writing: “See you in a year.”

Considering Gibbs-White had a £60 million release clause this summer, a third Manchester City fan suspects the former Wolves midfielder will also have one as a part of his new contract, with a mere one-year extension giving him the hope that a move is plausible: “One year extension. Smells of a release clause in contract and off to City next summer kind of deal.”

A fourth City fan also feels that considering Bernardo has just a year left on his deal, it seems inevitable that the Sky Blues will try to sign the 25-year-old: “guess we’ll sign him next season then, with Bernardo being a guaranteed exit, Gundogan going, if not this season and hopefully Kovacic.”

A fifth Sky Blues supporter replied to another fan by claiming that alongside Gibbs-White, Adam Wharton would join Pep Guardiola’s side as well, as he briefly wrote: “Him and Wharton.”

Finally, a sixth Manchester City fan guaranteed that at the very least, the club will try and sign him again next year, writing: “Manchester City will be back for Morgan Gibbs-White next summer. Mark my words. Screenshot this. Bookmark it. I don’t care, see you in a year.”

Only time will tell whether City will actually sign the midfielder.

Evangelos Marinakis has decided whether to sell Morgan Gibbs-White to Man City

Considering Spurs and Manchester City were keen on signing Gibbs-White, one can understand if both sets of fans believe they will try once again to Gibbs-White next year.

Evangelos Marinakis would rather Manchester City signed Gibbs-White over Tottenham.

Gibbs-White was reportedly offered to Manchester City as well.

Perhaps next year, the English giants could land the silky technician.
