Manchester City fans will likely be keeping a close eye on how Kevin De Bruyne fares at Napoli.

Not many clubs and their legends share a bond as strong as City and the midfield maestro, with Bernardo Silva lauding De Bruyne by naming him as the best player in Sky Blues’ history as well.

So much so that when Napoli officially presented the 34-year-old as one of their new signings, he expressed his loyalty to Manchester City by simply saying via BeanymanSports: “I’ve been in the Premier League for so long and in the end, I made a decision to go out of England. I’ve done what I’ve done and in the end, I’m a Man City player for life.”

As Kevin De Bruyne said, “I’m a Man City player for life”, Sky Blues fans were unsurprisingly moved by the legendary creator’s admission.

One Manchester City sent a heartfelt message addressing De Bruyne after his declaration, writing: ‘I’m a Man City player for life.’ “You were more than that, Kevin. You were the heart of our greatest era, the one who made everything tick. you didn’t just play for City, you helped build its legacy. And that will never be forgotten.”

A second City supporter named the Belgian as the Sky Blues’ biggest legend, claiming: “Not just a Man City player for life, you’re Mr. Man City, Kev, our club’s biggest legend.”

A third Manchester City fan singled De Bruyne out as the greatest player to have ever graced the Etihad Stadium, followed by emojis of a smiling face with a tear and a light-blue coloured heart, writing: “Our greatest ever.”

A fourth fan simply wrote: “Yeah, pack it up, I’m done with football” after it perhaps dawned on them that the six-time Premier League winner had departed City.

Another supporter hailed the former Wolfsburg midfielder’s comments by writing, “Love him forever. Special player.”

Considering Manchester City chose to let De Bruyne leave and did not renew his contract, a sixth fan was upset about how things ended between both parties, admitting: “It wasn’t supposed to end how it did”, followed by an emoji of a broken heart.

Considering how deep the connection has been between both the fans and the player from when the treble-winner signed for City in 2015, it is natural that the fans hold him so dearly to their hearts.

Kevin De Bruyne is motivated to prove Man City wrong for letting him go at Napoli

Manchester City fans backed De Bruyne as initially, he was reported to be under the impression that he would decide his future.

However, City ended up deciding to let De Bruyne go on a free transfer out of seemingly nowhere.

As a result, De Bruyne aims to prove Manchester City wrong for sanctioning his exit, which is what partially motivated him to sign for Napoli and play at the highest level.

However, it is clear to see that despite the Drongen-born technician perhaps being unhappy with how sourly things may have ended between himself and the club, he has an undying love for the Sky Blues and their fanbase across the world.
