Manchester City fans will be hoping that Kevin De Bruyne wins his final two games in a sky blue shirt and leaves the Etihad Stadium on a high note.
While the Belgian’s time in the Premier League could continue, considering De Bruyne is open to joining another English club, his illustrious spell at City is set to come to an end.
Losing the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace would have added to the midfield maestro’s frustrations, as the Daily Mail have reported that he was stunned at not being handed a new contract after being given the impression that his future was in his hands.
Kevin De Bruyne initially found the Sky Blues’ decision difficult to accept, with one board member believed to have spoken to him on the phone to hear his frustrations out.
De Bruyne is arguably Manchester City’s greatest player and the fans have been left upset by the club’s treatment of him.

Fans upset by how Man City handled Kevin De Bruyne’s exit
One Manchester City fan criticised the decision-makers at the Etihad Stadium for how they handled De Bruyne’s exit, writing: “You guys [City fans] are crying over transfers when the soul of the club is dead.”
Another supporter pinpointed how a club legend like the six-time Premier League winner should have been treated with more respect: “We did this to the guy who sacrificed his hamstring so we could win the treble If we keep finished players like Bernardo [Silva] and [Manuel] Akanji while letting him go, it is absolutely disrespectful and disgraceful.”
A third Manchester City fan stated that the board need to have a word with themselves for not doing a better job of handling De Bruyne’s departure: “Treating our greatest-ever player like this is simply unacceptable, the hierarchy need to take a hard look at themselves.”
A fourth fan echoed the same sentiments, adding: “Kevin is such a professional man. How we managed the ending of his City career is just awful…”
Another City supporter raised the point about why even the current squad would fight for the badge when club legends are treated in such a harsh manner: “Why’s any player in the future ever going to want to give it their all for this club if this is the type of farewell they get?”
Finally, a sixth fan believes that Manchester City’s treatment of De Bruyne sums up why they are in a dark place: “The way the club have treated Kev just sums up what’s been a shambles of a season. Arguably one of, if not the greatest player to put on a blue shirt and he’ll be leaving with a sour taste in his mouth. It’s sad man, hope Kev knows that the fans appreciate everything he’s done.”
The decorated creator will appreciate that the supporters continue to stick by his side through thick and thin.
De Bruyne has decided his next club already
Manchester City fans would understandably have liked the club to have given De Bruyne more clarity about his future.
The former VfL Wolfsburg attacker has given his blood, sweat and tears to making City a European powerhouse.
But City’s approach was perhaps muddled, as there may have been a sense of panic behind the scenes about the disappointing season they were enduring.
De Bruyne’s sights will now be set on looking ahead and he has already done so by green-lighting a move to Napoli, as per journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
But Chicago Fire’s project interests De Bruyne as well.
Regardless of where he plays his football next, the City captain will hold the English giants close to his heart, even if he is gutted by how things have ended for him in a sky blue shirt.
