A claim has been made that PSG have informed Manchester City that they could stand a chance of wrapping up a transfer for Neymar.

This revelation was made by journalist Graeme Bailey on 90 Min’s Talking Transfers podcast, a few days after Elano said that he could persuade the Brazilian megastar to sign for City.

It seems like Manchester City could well have a chance of winning the transfer battle to sign Neymar after all.

Manchester City could win Neymar transfer race

It has reported just three days ago that despite Bernardo Silva potentially becoming a treble-winner this season, he would fancy an exit this summer.

As a result, the Sky Blues would be in need for an attacking player to come in for the Portuguese international, even if not as a direct replacement as such.

Whether that could be or Neymar, branded as an ‘incredible player’ by Pep Guardiola (via talkSPORT) is a question only time can answer but it has been claimed that Manchester City are certainly in the transfer hunt.

“It is a bit [intermediary-driven] but within our story on Neymar, we did mention that the likes of United, City and Arsenal were being kept informed.”

“That was being driven from the Neymar, PSG end where they were letting these clubs know the situation.”

The fact that only a few clubs could afford a transfer for Neymar, including his wages has been suggested as another reason why Manchester City may stand a chance.

“PSG want Neymar out. That’s the basic. End of it. Who can afford Neymar? There’s no point in even talking about a lot of clubs. There’s only a handful of clubs who can afford Neymar, not including the Middle East in Saudi Arabia.”

“But if he was to stay in Europe, we know it’s PSG, Bayern and the Premier League, isn’t it, really? It’s not hard for us to work out who might the landing spot might be.”

Manchester City should steer clear of the Brazilian legend

While a transfer involving Neymar is likely to be a smash hit, it is also worth considering that his availability or lack thereof will likely not be appreciated by Manchester City.

The Brazilian icon remains in the elite bracket of players in world football.

But with the wages he is likely to eat up, Neymar’s unreliable injury record is simply not worth investing in for the Sky Blues.

Also, the PSG superstar has become a playmaker over the years and one could argue that City need a direct winger a lot more than him, as they lack that profile of player in their current squad.
