Manchester City will enter the summer transfer window in search of a new midfielder.

The injury of Rodri at the start of the season has had a huge effect on the Manchester club this term and having already added Nico Gonzalez to their squad in January, City are keen to strengthen the middle of the park further ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Kevin De Bruyne is set to leave Man City at the end of the season once his contract at the Etihad Stadium expires and whoever replaces the Belgian has huge shoes to fill.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz is Man City’s top target to replace the 33-year-old, but when it comes to a natural centre-midfielder, the Premier League club have now added a new player to their list.

Man City showing interest in Gabriel Sara

Man City have been linked with Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White in recent weeks to strengthen their midfield as Hugo Viana is a big fan of the English midfielder.

A move for the 25-year-old is very likely to be a costly one this summer as the player is key for Forest and they will want to keep hold of the Englishman, especially if they qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Man City have now added an alternative to their list, reports Santi Aouna, with the Manchester club showing interest in Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara ahead of the summer.

The journalist also reports that contact has already taken place between City and the Brazilian’s team in recent weeks as the Premier League giants enquire to see if a deal is possible ahead of next season.

Sara has already played in England with Norwich and with this experience under his belt, the 25-year-old could be a good backup to Rodri.

Gabriel Sara has been described as ‘outstanding’ by former coach

Sara moved to Galatasaray last summer having spent two years with Norwich, where the Brazilian featured in 96 matches for the Championship side, scoring 21 goals alongside 17 assists.

His former Canaries boss, David Wagner, once described Sara via the Eastern Daily Press as ‘outstanding’ and suggested that the midfielder was maybe too good for the Championship.

Sara has been a key player for Galatasaray this season having featured in 41 games and a big attraction for City is the fact that the 25-year-old can play in any midfield position.

It remains to be seen if Man City make an official move for Sara this summer as the Manchester outfit continues to assess their options.
