Manchester are on the verge of signing Jeremy Doku – and an interesting piece of information has come out about the deal today.
Doku stands to become City’s third signing of the summer window, after Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol.
The youngster will reportedly wear the number 11 shirt.
It is an exciting signing for City, with Doku known for his blistering pace and dribbling, two things that excite Pep Guardiola.
In the end, City agreed on a £55.5 million fee with Rennes for the player’s transfer.
And this is good because the French club had actually wanted to bump it right up…
Jeremy Doku’s stance has helped save Man City a fortune
The Athletic have made a rather interesting claim today about Doku and his imminent move to City.

The Citizens were not the only club interested in the 21-year-old.
West Ham United became linked, and Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur were also reportedly interested.
The Athletic say that, upon learning of the interest from Chelsea and Spurs, Rennes wanted to up their asking price to £68 million.
But there was a determination from Doku to move to City and City only.
He had agreed personal terms with the club, meaning Rennes lost their leverage.
The French club were therefore negotiated down to around £55.5 million, which means Doku’s stance has ended up saving City around £13 million.
Good to hear how much Doku wanted Man City move
Things like this are always really good to hear.
Doku seemingly hasn’t wanted any other move this summer – and he can’t really be blamed.

City just won the Treble and have world-class players, facilities, coaches and manager.
Riyad Mahrez has just left the club and so Doku – described as an ‘amazing talent’ by French journalist Julien Laurens – will be getting plenty of opportunities to showcase his talent in the best league in the world.
