Manchester City will go in pursuit of a fifth straight Premier League title in 2024/25 – and one pundit believes the club will boast the Young Player of the Season when all is said and done.
Pep Guardiola heads into his final season as City boss, although fans are hooping he will yet extend his contract.
It is expected the manager will make a decision on his future at some point during the new campaign.
City have been fairly quiet this summer on the transfers front. Only Savinho has come in so far.
The departure of Julian Alvarez has left a lot of people wondering if the club will now spend some cash.
But it may well be that Pep turns to players who are already in his squad, like Oscar Bobb or James McAtee. Bobb has looked especially lively in pre-season, and Karen Carney is predicting a big season for the Norwegian.
Karen Carney thinks Oscar Bobb will be the Premier League’s standout young player in 2024/25

Bobb made his City debut last year after being promoted to the first-team and fans were really excited to see him in glimpses.
But there is a feeling now that he could be set for a lot more involvement at City.
He was the ‘standout performer’ for Joleon Lescott and many fans in pre-season, and he was brilliant again against Manchester United in the Community Shield. His assist for Bernardo Silva’s equaliser was described as ‘phenomenal’ by City legend Shaun Goater.
Bobb is in with a great chance of starting against Chelsea on Sunday in City’s first Premier League game, and he’ll be looking to continue his great form if selected.
For Karen Carney, Bobb will be the standout young player in the Premier League this season.
Pundits were asked by the Premier League for their predictions, and she picked Bobb as the ‘best young player’.
Don Hutchison also selected Bobb, having said days before that he is a ‘beautiful player to watch’.
Others plumped for Kobbie Mainoo of Manchester United, and Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.

City fans are rightly excited about Bobb ahead of the new season, with many feeling as though he could perhaps enjoy a Cole Palmer-esque breakthrough season. Palmer was incredible in his first season with Chelsea last term.
Bobb has looked razor-sharp over the past few weeks and looks like he is ready to take on a greater role this term. It is now just about whether Pep is ready to give him that show of faith.
We have all seen what Bobb is capable of.
He is yet to have an extended run in the team, but that could well come this season and there is every chance we could be talking about him as the best young player come the end of the campaign.
