Man City are set to hit the transfer market this summer and sign a horde of new players. But we could also see a lot of movement in the other direction too.

Manchester City are primed for a huge summer of change with Hugo Viana joining the club as director of football, marking the start of a new and very exciting chapter in Man City’s story.

This season has certainly been a bit of transitional one for Pep Guardiola’s side who now sit in 6th place of the Premier League table following their 0-0 draw with Man United on Sunday.

And ahead of that game, Kevin De Bruyne announced that he’s leaving Man City this summer in what could mark the start of a flurry of big name player departures at the Etihad in the coming months.

There’s a lot of noise surrounding players like Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva. Elsewhere, Jack Grealish is tipped to leave Man City although positive recent performances may see Pep keep the £100million midfielder for a while longer.

Man City starlet Jacob Wright wants to join Norwich City this summer

And it’s not just the old guard at Man City who could be on the move this summer. Academy gem Jacob Wright, who’s currently on loan at Norwich City, is also looking to seal a permanent exit from Man City and sign a permanent deal with Norwich City, who he joined on loan in the winter transfer window.

The 19-year-old midfielder has since featured nine times in the Championship for the Canaries who have a £2.3million option to buy the Englishman, with the fee including add-ons. Wright has four first-team appearances to his name for City, coming in the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, and Champions League.

Speaking to Pink Un, Wright said when asked if he’d like to stay at Carrow Road on a permanent basis: “Yes, 100%. I’m really starting to build something nice at the club. I’m enjoying it. It’s a good family club.

“I’m really enjoying the way they play. Hopefully, we can get some better results next season if I am to stay. I’d definitely like to stay, hopefully.”

Pep has mixed results with Man City’s academy stars

Pep has mixed reviews when it comes to youngsters at Man City. He’s had some success stories with names like Phil Foden and more recently Nico O’Reilly to name a couple, but then there’s players like Cole Palmer who couldn’t really get a look in at Man City, only to prevail elsewhere.

Wright seems determined to play football first and foremost. Still being so young and inexperienced it doesn’t seem likely he’ll get that at City anytime soon, but the possibility of him moving to Norwich City on a permanent deal lies with Norwich themselves.

They have an option to buy him and likely have first dibs on the player too who is clearly enjoying his time at Carrow Road. In fact, Wright wanted to leave Man City last summer as well but Pep decided to keep him.

Wright is still getting to grips with senior, first-team football, but there’s every chance he goes on to become another exiting youngster who Man City let slip through their fingers.
