Man City should repeat Raheem Sterling trick by signing £20m Liverpool player who’s ready to leave

Raheem Sterling became one of the greatest players in the history of Manchester City during his time at the Etihad Stadium.

The winger signed for City in 2015 from Liverpool and went on to make 339 appearances in a sky blue shirt, scoring 131 goals and assisting a further 86.

Kevin De Bruyne loved playing alongside Sterling, and together they helped deliver four Premier League titles, one FA Cup, five EFL Cups, and one Community Shield, which helped cement the current Arsenal star as a legend at the Manchester club.

It is fair to say the signing of the winger from Liverpool was a big success, and with a current Reds star keen to leave Anfield this summer, Man City should consider repeating the trick they successfully carried out with Sterling.

Brentford approach Liverpool for Caoimhin Kelleher

With Giorgi Mamardashvili joining Liverpool this summer, this has paved the way for Caoimhin Kelleher to leave the Reds, and Sky Sports are reporting that Brentford have made an approach to sign the Ireland international.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Merseyside club will accept fees of over £20m for the goalkeeper, who has just one year remaining on his contract with the Premier League champions, and this is a transfer Man City should consider making.

With Ederson set to leave Man City this summer, Pep Guardiola will need a replacement; however, with many other areas requiring attention ahead of the new season, the signing of Kelleher would help the Manchester club save money for other areas, while adding a quality shot-stopper.

The Irishman has played at the highest level with plenty of Premier League experience, is good with the ball at his feet, and at 26, the Liverpool star is still young for a goalkeeper, which would give City value for money.

Kelleher does not have the name value of other goalkeepers in the sport; however, he would be a solid option should Man City miss out on their top targets.

Man City’s top goalkeeping targets for the summer

It was reported this week that Espanyol’s Joan Garcia is Man City’s top target to replace Ederson; however, the La Liga star has hinted that he wants to remain in Spain amid interest from Barcelona.

Should the Manchester club miss out on the 24-year-old, Porto’s Diogo Costa is also high on Man City’s list as the Portuguese goalkeeper is a player Hugo Viana knows well.

The 25-year-old is said to have already given the green light to a move to Manchester, but City are yet to submit a formal offer for the Porto star.

Replacing Ederson will be a tough task for Guardiola given the importance of the Brazilian over the last eight years, but Kelleher would be a smart route to go down, with so many areas in the Man City squad needing fixing this summer.
