Manchester City found themselves being linked with transfer moves for multiple players during the recent summer window.
After securing a historic fourth consecutive Premier League trophy, City then went on to secure transfer deals for Savinho and Ilkay Gundogan whilst seeing numerous players wave goodbye to the Etihad Stadium.
Despite only bringing two players into the club, Pep Guardiola’s side were mentioned with moves for other names across the Premier League and Europe’s other top divisions.
Even though the 2024/25 Premier League season is still in its infancy, one player in the division who was linked with a move to City over this summer has shown in his recent performances why he was of interest to the champions.

Eberechi Eze has been in top form this season after Man City transfer links
Back in July, The Guardian reported that City were considering a move for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, who at the time had a release clause in his contract worth £68m.
Since joining the South London club back in the summer of 2020, the 26-year-old has appeared in 126 games across all competitions, scoring 28 goals and delivering 17 assists along the way.
Last month, Phil Foden said that he is a big fan of Eze and the technical ability he has on the ball.
As one of the four outfield players to have played every minute of Premier League action for the Eagles so far this season, this highlights how important he is for his side.
In addition to being the only Palace player to score a league goal this season, the Englishman has made more shots at goal (15), shot-creating actions (14) and progressive carries (14) than any other player at the club.
His overall performances have earned Eze a strong early season rating of 7.08/10 from WhoScored, making him the highest-rated player at Palace.
City should consider a move for Eze next summer
Having proved himself to be such an impactful player in terms of being an attacking and creative threat, it’s clear that Eze is someone that Guardiola would have undoubtedly loved to have seen join his squad over the summer.
Moving forward, if the England international continues to have a strong season, City should definitely consider making a move for him in the next summer transfer window.
