Man City’s Erling Haaland has done something no other player has done in Europe’s top five leagues this season

Manchester City goalscorer Erling Haaland could quite possibly be in the form of his life.

On Monday, Haaland even scored the winning goal for Norway in their 2-1 win against Austria in the UEFA Nations League.

But in a Manchester City shirt, the 24-year-old has been virtually unstoppable.

Owen Hargreaves compared Haaland to Michael Jordan — claiming that when he gets the ball on his left peg, it seems impossible to stop him from scoring.

The £51 million man has seven goals in three Premier League games this campaign — with Noni Madueke, Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah and Bryan Mbuemo all behind him as the joint-second highest goalscorers with three goals.

Haaland will be hoping to keep up his blistering start to the season upon his return from international duty.

Outrageous statistic about Haaland this season emerges

The Norwegian international will especially be confident after his latest strike against Austria.

Pep Guardiola’s side face teams like Brentford, Inter Milan and Arsenal in a little over a week; games where Haaland will need to be at his clinical best.

All eyes will be on the Leeds-born striker to see if he can especially deliver against Inter Milan and Arsenal — a pair of big games where he will be expected to perform.

So far, all the signs this season suggest that the former Borussia Dortmund phenomenon is up for the challenge.

The two-time Premier League winner always visibly seems at ease when going toe-to-toe against a top side.

According to WhoScored.com, Haaland is the only played in Europe’s top five leagues to have scored multiple goals from outside the box this season (two); in successive outings against Ipswich Town and West Ham United.

Erling Haaland is debunking a myth about him this season

Often, Haaland has been painted with the stick of being a goalscorer who tends to usually score tap-ins.

However, a peek at the star striker’s goal catalogue throughout his career indicates that he can score any type of goal.

This campaign, Haaland is certainly debunking this myth that exists — scoring a pair of incredible goals from distance — with his strike against Ipswich being immaculately well-placed but on the other hand, his screamer against West Ham demanded maximum power.

Regardless, both of the in-form number nine’s finishes were a class apart.

Haaland is certainly making a mockery of the criticism he has often received that he only scores easy goals — especially as no player in Europe’s top five leagues has scored as many goals from outside the box.
