Manchester City fans have now reacted after hearing that a deal has been agreed to sign Claudio Echeverri from River Plate.
That is according to Ed Aarons of the Guardian.
So, what have the Manchester City fans been saying about Claudio Echeverri? Let’s take a look…
Manchester City fans react as Claudio Echeverri deal agreed with River Plate
Well, the Argentina U17 international was mentioned in our article detailing the most likely January arrivals at Manchester City – although it sounds as if a deal has been done before December is even finished.
Aarons wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “Understand that Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign Claudio Echeverri from River Plate for €25m (£22m). The 17-year-old (attacking) midfielder will remain with the Argentinian club for another year on loan as part of the deal.”
Now, this is seriously exciting news.

Echeverri has the potential to become a Ballon d’Or winner one day, recently scoring a sensational hat trick against Brazil at the U17 World Cup to announce himself on the global stage.
The last young talent Manchester City signed from River Plate was Julian Alvarez, and look how that turned out – the South American has already won practically all there is to win, while cementing himself as one of the best forwards in Europe.
One Manchester City fan wrote “what an incredible signing” after hearing the rumours – we strongly agree.
Another described this work from Txiki Begiristain as a “big” piece of recruitment.
Elsewhere, two other Manchester City fans commented on the situation.
One praised the Citizens for loaning Echeverri back to River Plate for his development – a wise move given the fact the South American is highly unlikely to walk straight into Pep Guardiola’s side.
Another paid reference to the Spaniard, posting to say they hope the 52-year-old is still in charge when the teenager arrives.
There are whispers that Guardiola may choose to depart in 2025.
Last but not least, a couple of other Manchester City fans shared some thoughts.
One referred to the fact Begiristain beat Barcelona to Echeverri – the treble winners are also said to have fought off interest from Chelsea, according to 90min.
Another supporter simply posted “this is amazing” – it certainly is.
