Transfer news is already doing the rounds at Manchester City as we approach the January window.

Pep Guardiola may be tempted to dip into the market as his treble winners currently sit in the surprise position of fourth in the Premier League.

By the sounds of it, at least one new face could be arriving at the Etihad Stadium this winter.

On that note, let’s take a look at the three most likely January signings for Manchester City

Well, this is by far the most likely January arrival at Manchester City.

A number of sources have tipped Valentin Barco to join the Citizens this winter – even Sergio Aguero said his fellow Argentine will “surely” team up with Guardiola.

A story from Football Transfers claimed that the Boca Juniors No.19 has already decided to join Manchester City after visiting the Etihad Campus – while RN said the Citizens are the main candidate to sign the South American.

Manchester City are very confident about signing Claudio Echeverri – according to the Mirror – thanks to a strong relationship with River Plate.

The Argentina Under-17 international is a real prospect who boasts immense potential, hence why Real Madrid are also keen.

However, Manchester City appear to be the outright favourites – TV Play in Italy even claimed the Citizens have triggered his £22m release clause when writing that Juventus are also interested.

Matija Popovic

This one has only recently come out of the blue – but we would be very surprised if Manchester City fail to get a deal done now.

The reliable Fabrizio Romano believes Manchester City are now in talks to sign Serbian wonderkid Matija Popovic ahead of AC Milan, who thought they had a deal wrapped up.

Crucially, the 17-year-old is available on a free transfer, with his contract at Partizan expiring at the start of January.

That means Manchester City just need to negotiate with Popovic – who has been compared to Swansea cult hero Michu – rather than a club as well, streamlining the process for Txiki Begiristain.
