Julian Alvarez became the first player in the world to do one thing this season as Manchester City defeated Everton on Wednesday.

The Argentina international – who cost just £14.1m – started and scored in the absence of Erling Haaland as Pep Guardiola’s side recorded a 3-1 win.

So, what did Manchester City No.19 Julian Alvarez do? Let’s take a look…

What Julian Alvarez did during Manchester City win

Well, the South American became the first player on the planet this season to wear the FIFA Champions Badge at both international and club level, after pulling on the shirt earlier this week.

That is according to TNT Sports.

Alvarez has been wearing the FIFA Champions Badge with Argentina following the 2022 World Cup win over France in Saudi Arabia.

The 23-year-old was then allowed to wear the FIFA Champions Badge at club level after the Premier League granted Manchester City permission, following the FIFA Club World Cup victory over Fluminense.

Alvarez is also just one of few players in history to have ever worn the FIFA Champions Badge on both the international scene and at club level.

Raphael Varane did the same after winning the World Cup with France and the FIFA Club World Cup with Real Madrid in 2018.

Benjamin Pavard did likewise after winning the FIFA Club World Cup at Bayern Munich in 2021 – with France still wearing the FIFA Champions Badge up until Argentina snatched the World Cup in 2022.

Julian Alvarez could become the most decorated footballer in history

Just 18 months into his career at Manchester City, Alvarez already boasts a trophy haul that most footballers can only dream of.

The Argentine – who was actually tipped to win the Ballon d’Or too – has lifted the following pieces of silverware for the Citizens and Argentina.

Alvarez only really needs the Carabao Cup and FA Community Shield to complete football at Manchester City, which is quite staggering when you consider the fact he only arrived at the Etihad Stadium in the summer of 2022 – after being loaned back to River Plate for six months.

At this rate, the Calchín-born forward could finish his career at the most decorated footballer ever.
