Michael Owen hailed Erling Haaland for how outstanding a player he well and truly is.

In the latest episode of Up Front with Simon Jordan, the popular pundit was quizzed about whether he could succeed in today’s day and age, as he went on to discuss Haaland and appreciate his game.

It seems like all one can do is bow down to the 23-year-old’s magnificence, with Micah Richards admitting that he would like him to stay at Manchester City for the next ten years.

Michael Owen says “amazing” Erling Haaland is “just playing a different game” to the rest

Monaco frontman Folarin Balogun also said that the Norwegian megastar is the best striker in the world, emphasising that his habit of scoring tap-ins and goals inside the box is an underappreciated “craft.”

Crystal Palace centre-back Joachim Andersen also admitted that the treble-winner is a “top player” and the toughest opponent he has ever faced in the Premier League.

Michael Owen praised Erling Haaland but also mentioned how other greats of the game could be achieving what he has at Manchester City.

“Ronaldo, Brazilian Ronaldo, do you think Haaland’s better than him?

“Thierry Henry, do you think Haaland [is better than him?]”

“Do you think these people, if you put them in Manchester City, I love Erling Haaland, by the way, I just think he’s playing a different game, he’s just amazing”, Owen said on Up Front with Simon Jordan.

“But do you think if Thierry Henry was playing for Manchester City in that position, he wouldn’t be scoring [as many goals] or as I say, Ronaldo, Brazilian Ronaldo? I’m talking about the greats of that generation. Of course, they would!”

Erling Haaland being mentioned in the same breath as such legends sums up his brilliance

Considering Michael Owen was an elite No.9 in his prime, Erling Haaland would likely be flattered by being praised by him.

However, it is worth emphasising that the former Borussia Dortmund frontman is operating at such a high level that Owen has mentioned his name in the same breath as arguably two of the greatest strikers in the history of the game.

Perhaps Ronaldo Nazario and Thierry Henry would be breaking goalscoring records at Manchester City in the same vein as Erling Haaland.

But the fact that names as great as the aforementioned pair have been mentioned as examples by Michael Owen showcases that the feared goalscorer is performing at a standard not many strikers truly have.
